Kingdom County Productions was established in May 1991 by Vermont impresario/ filmmaker Jay Craven and theater and film producer Bess O’Brien. Together, Craven and O'Brien set out to fulfill their dream of making films rooted in northern New England—and produced seven award-winning dramatic feature films, six documentaries, a radio variety show, a touring musical theater production, and an Emmy-winning television comedy series. KCP recently launched The Institute of Arts, Voices, Action (AVA) which will produce film and theater productions that grow out of issues that are affecting Vermont and Vermonters.
Kingdom County Productions Projects:
KCP films have played 52 counties, 352 U.S. cities, and 43 international festivals including Sundance. More than 300,000 videos and DVD's of KCP films are in circulation and television exposure includes The Sundance Channel, The Disney Channel, Starz, more than 200 local commercial TV outlets, and PBS affiliates in ten states.
The Institute of Arts Voice Action:
The Institute for Arts, Voice and Action (AVA) will utilize film and theater as a means to transform an issue, or story that exists in Vermont into a powerful artistic piece that raises consciousness, breeds empathy, understanding and creates seeds for change.
