Direct from their sold out shows on Broadway, Lincoln Center, and London’s West end, this zany multi-tasking madcap comics just juggle till they drop – and then keep juggling. The Flying K’s were born as Santa Monica street performers back in 1973 -- and “they can still throw some impressive curveballs when it comes to showing you how juggling is like a jazz improvisation - or how a four-man band can play each other's instruments in perfect harmony while keeping several extra balls in the air.” (Time Out, London).
Sporting kilts, boots, tuxedos and a relentless sense of fun, the Karamazovs have tight timing: they can juggle in 5/4, or in the dark with four sets of electric balls which change color at just the right moment. They’re versatile enough to have performed with the likes of The Grateful Dead and The Who—and they appeared in the film The Jewel of the Nile, the sequel to Romancing the Stone and performed as the Flying Sandos Brothers in an episode of Seinfeld entitled "The Friars Club."
Their act combines vaudeville jokes with expert, funny musicianship, e.g., playing the adjacent Brother’s instrument with one hand while juggling Indian clubs with the other, or performing an outrageous ballet parody in absurd drag while spouting mostly punning jokes. And then there’s the "Terror Trick" in which they gradually introduce nine very strange items—a cleaver, a torch, a salt shaker, a ukulele, a skillet, a fish, an egg, a block of dry ice, and a bottle of champagne (which they call a "time bomb")—then juggle them all at once only to end up cooking the fish and the egg in the skillet and drinking the champagne.
IF YOU ATTEND: They also perform a trick called "The Gamble" in which "the Champ" (portrayed by Dmitri Karamazov) will juggle any three items provided by the audience. SO BRNG WHAT YOU HAVE! The objects are chosen by the audience's applause. The objects provided must conform to the following rules:
1. Must weigh more than an ounce (28 grams)
2. Must weigh less than 10 pounds (4.5 kg)
3. Must be no bigger than a breadbox
4. Must not be a live animal
5. Must not be able to stop the "Champ" from being a live animal
"The Champ" is also permitted to make no more than three modifications to the selected items (in total) to make them more manageable. If The Champ can juggle the items for an unbroken pattern of ten throws, he wins a standing ovation from the audience; if he fails in three tries, he receives a pie in the face.
