Seventeen Top 40 Hits and Members of the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame!

Legendary rhythm and blues artists, Little Anthony and the Imperials were inducted in 2009 by Smokey Robinson into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame – and they brought down the house at the Hall of Fame’s 25^th anniversary concert with their a cappella performance of Just Two Kinds of People in the World.   Little Anthony and the Imperials performed seventeen Top 40 pop songs during the 60’s.  They included the solid gold classics, Tears on My Pillow, Hurt So Bad, Goin’ Out of My Head, I’m On the Outside (Looking In), Shimmy Shimmy Ko Ko Bop, and others.

 No less than Bob Dylan famously remarked, “There’s no more rock and roll. It’s an imitation. I never did rock and roll. The Beatles weren’t rock and roll, nor were the Rolling Stones. Rock and roll ended with Little Anthony and The Imperials.”

 Paul Simon added, "Little Anthony Gourdine has one of the purest voices to come out of the New York City doo-wop scene. They will be remembered as great musicians from the streets of my hometown. I love them."

There are a number of knock-off hybrids of the great 60’s bands on the road, performing pale imitations of the names they carry--The Temptations, The Shirelles, and others.  Little Anthony and the Imperials are the only ones we know of that still have three of the four originals—with Little Anthony Gourdine as lead singer, his remarkable falsetto voice still strong.  Founding members Clarence Collins and Ernest Wright join him—along with Robert LeBlanc who has spent many years backing up Marvin Gaye and Aretha Franklin among others.  This is a first class group—performing an unforgettable show. With the full sound of a nine-piece band backing them up—including trumpets, flutes, sax, guitars, keyboard, organ, and drums.
